ATLANTA – Georgia public-school students performed better than the rest of the country's public schools on the [.fow1-1]SAT[.fow1-1] this year for the sixth year in a row.

The students in the Georgia public-school graduating class of 2023 recorded an average [.fow1-1]SAT[.fow1-1] score of 1045, 42 points above the national average for public-school students of 1003.

Breaking it down, the Georgia class posted an average score of 534 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) part of the test and 511 on the math section. Those beat both national average scores on the [.fow1-1]SAT[.fow1-1]: 510 on the ERW part of the test and 493 for the math section.

“I am extremely proud of Georgia’s students as they continue to beat the national average on the [.fow1-1]SAT[.fow1-1],” State School official Richard Woods said Monday. “This [shows] the hard work of students and teachers along with the families who have [.fow1-2]invested[.fow1-2] in them.
